Christopher Abbott is set to star in Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal Pictures and Blumhouse. The feature is set to be released on Friday, October 25, 2024. The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse having previously helmed the hit 2020 pic The Invisible Man.
Wolf Man stars Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator. The film was written by Whannell & Corbett Tuck and Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo. Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.
Universal and Blumhouse have been on high on this specific monster IP for some time with Ryan Gosling and Derek Cianfrance directing. Prior to the strike both parted ways with the project, though Gosling remains on as an exec producer. Once the recent SAG-AFTRA strike ended, the project became a high priority for the studios and given Abott’s ascension as a highly-sought after leading man, they were quick to bring him on to star in the pic.
Abbott was most recently seen in the Searchlight pic Poor Things opposite Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo and can next be seen Sony and Marvel’s Kraven The Hunter. Other credits include the Hulu series Catch 22 and Apple’s The Crowded Room.
Abbott is represented by William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, Entertainment 360, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern. Whannell is represented by CAA and Myman Greenspan Fox Rosenberg Mobasser Younger & Light. Schuker Blum & Angelo are represented by CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
