The Metro Theater on Broadway between 99th and 100th Streets, which has been closed for 17 years, is coming back as a “Community Entertainment Center,” with 20 “restaurant-theaters,” showing films and serving food and alcohol, and offering much more, West Side Rag learned from conversations with government officials and Albert Bialek, owner of the theater.
Bialek is not at liberty to reveal more details until tomorrow, Monday, when decisions about the official announcement will be made, he said, but he assured WSR that all the necessary approvals for the new center have been obtained.
More tomorrow!
Yay!
