While the start of the warm-weather season naturally sees white jeans getting the most attention, you might be mistaken for believing they are the only pants trend worth noting. Now dominating our favorite shopping sites and filling Instagram feeds, striped pants are quickly becoming the must-have pants trend for the summer.
However, not just any stripes will do. Thin-stripe drawstring pants defined last summer, but this year, it’s all about wide-stripe pants, offered in both tailored trousers and denim. Although they are bolder than typical staples, with their wide stripes and range of colors from brown with ivory to blue with green and purple, fashion people in Paris and L.A. are styling them with ease. We’ve seen them expertly paired with everything from bracelet-sleeve tees, woven belts, and ballet flats to high-neck tank tops and elevated flip-flops, demonstrating their incredible versatility. They are also proving ageless, with women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s all embracing the look.
