Which NYE nail designs are on the rise?
If you’re wondering which elegant manicure to create from the comfort of home or request from your nail tech, what better way to find out than by asking an expert? London-based nail artist and content creator Jessica White predicts this year’s most popular looks will be marked by a shift toward refined sparkles, metallic details, chrome accents, and micro-shimmer finishes, which feel more elevated than the full-coverage glitter of previous years. She also foresees jewel tones with a reflective topcoat being on the rise. “Rich reds, midnight blues, and emerald greens paired with a soft chrome sheen feel very current for NYE,” says White.
In the past, New Year’s Eve nails embraced maximalism, chunky glitter, bold foils, and lots of texture. For 2026, the most stylish people from coast to coast will be wearing statement nails with cleaner lines that focus on dimension rather than density. “I’m already starting to see a festive shift to thin metallic outlines and subtle sparkle gradients that catch the light without overwhelming the whole set,” she explains. Year after year, gold accents have returned to popularity, and White tells us the tradition will continue. “It’s the one shade that instantly feels festive without dating the look,” White explains.
In addition to the classic gold that pops up around this time of year, she says silver chrome motifs and timeless black shimmer will make a comeback since “they photograph beautifully and work with every outfit.” French tips will also be experiencing a revival this year, but in 2026, she’s expecting white tips to be swapped for a metallic edge.
What are the best products to use?
Using the right products to create your at-home manicure will ensure that your New Year’s Eve nail look will last well past midnight. White recommends using a fine-shimmer topcoat to elevate colors without adding weight to the design. “A good chrome powder is also worth having, and you can use it over any shade to create that soft mirror effect that’s everywhere right now,” she says. For longevity, using a strong builder gel on your nails can help extend their wear time, which is especially useful during winter, when your nails can be more fragile.

Toasted Caramel

Dubbed toasted caramel, this glowing shade takes center stage in nail artist Queenie Nguyen’s viral manicure. It combines golden brown with a soft velvet finish that catches the light just so.
