The 3.21 Fashion Show celebrating the third replication of the 21st chromosome will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at the Criterion, 500 E Sheridan Ave. in Bricktown.
The Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma (DSACO) and NASH Engineered Fashion are partnering for the event, which will feature 21 models with Down syndrome dressed in custom NASH Engineered Fashion designs.
Fashion designer Tamra Gould, who co-founded the clothing company, has a heart for raising awareness and funds to help individuals with Down syndrome.
“DSACO has been a big part of my life ever since my brother, Trafford, who has Down syndrome, was born,” Gould said. “I have seen firsthand the positive impact DSACO has had on other families through the programs and resources they offer. Partnering with DSACO for the 3.21 Fashion Show is an opportunity to serve and give back to an organization that has given me and my family so much.”
Juan Aguilar, who is the co-founder of NASH, and Gould will design an outfit individualized for each model in the fashion show, including Gould’s brother Trafford who has taken an active role in the design process of their garments.
The evening will begin with a cocktail hour with hor’ d’oeuvres, a cash bar and a live performance by American Slang. Following the cocktail hour, the models will own the runway in their local, handmade fashion.
The event will conclude with a dance party to music mixed by DJ Partyman. Attendees also may shop from local vendors throughout the duration of the event.
