Mariska Hargitay has extended her starring run in Broadway‘s Every Brilliant Thing by a week, and will now play in the essentially-solo show at the Hudson Theatre from Tuesday, May 26, through Sunday, July 5.
Producers Second Half Productions, Seaview, and Gavin Kalin Productions announced the extension today.
As previously announced, the play’s current star, the Tony-nominated Daniel Radcliffe, will play his final performance on Sunday, May 24.
Hargitay, best known for her long-running role of Captain Olivia Benson on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU, will star as the unnamed narrator who recounts a life marked by depression and domestic challenges and who has compiled a lifelong list of “every brilliant thing” that makes life worth living. At first the list is meant as a gift for the narrator’s troubled mother but eventually becomes a lifeline for the narrator as well.
Written by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe, and directed by Jeremy Herrin, Every Brilliant Thing is structed as a solo performance but with a twist: The sole scripted character – the narrator – interacts with audience members who stand in for various other characters. The play has been performed in over 80 countries including a hit production in London’s West End in 2025, which transferred to the Hudson Theatre on Broadway in February.
The Broadway production has been Tony-nominated for Best Revival of a Play and Best Leading Actor in a Play (Radcliffe).
