Epsilon Film has closed a raft of international deals on “Momo,” the live-action family adventure film based on the novel by Michael Ende, best known for “The NeverEnding Story,” and starring Martin Freeman and Claes Bang.
U.K. and Ireland rights have been acquired by Signature Entertainment, which plans a summer 2026 theatrical release. Additional sales include Italy (Minerva Pictures), Hungary (Mozinet) and Ex-Yugoslavia (Investacommerce).
Previously announced deals include North America (Blue Fox Entertainment), Slovakia and the Czech Republic (Media Group), Denmark and Norway (Another World Entertainment), the Middle East (Selim Ramia & Co.), and worldwide inflight rights (Ricochet Digital Media).
“Momo” follows the orphaned Momo as she takes on the mysterious Men in Grey, who are stealing people’s time while quietly taking control of her city.
The film is directed by Christian Ditter (“Love, Rosie,” “How to Be Single”), and stars Emmy and BAFTA winner Freeman (“The Hobbit” trilogy, “Sherlock,” “Black Panther”), Bang (“The Square,” “Dracula,” “The Northman”), Alexa Goodall, Araloyin Oshunremi, Kim Bodnia, Laura Haddock and Jennifer Amaka Pettersson.
The film is produced by Rat Pack Filmproduktion (“The Wave,” “Wickie/Vicky,” “Colonia Dignidad”) in co-production with Constantin Film (“Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die,” “Regretting You,” “Resident Evil”) and in collaboration with Westside, Beta Film, Noisemaker and Pakt Media.
Since it was founded two years ago, Epsilon’s lineup of features has included animation title “Dreamers – The Hunt for Shadowclaw,” “The Amazing Maurice 2,” “Nessie Junior,” “Brave Heart Yakari” and “Mimi and Harold – Out of Frame.”
In addition to its animated slate, Epsilon also represents “Lassie and the Wild Bear” and the Sky Original production “Robin and the Hoods,” with Naomie Harris and Gwendoline Christie.
The company also handles global rights for Germany’s biggest box-office hit of the past five years: the live-action adaptations of the bestselling book series “The School of Magical Animals,” parts 3 and 4.
