Evansville Police Looking for Man Who Used Fake Cash at Adult Entertainment Club

The Evansville Police Department is searching for a man who tried to pass off counterfeit bills at a local gentlemen’s club on Saturday night.

Police say it happened at The Pony off of S. Green River Road.

Officers went there around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night after someone with the business called 911 and said that a man was using multiple fake $20 bills.

According to the manager and another employee, the man came into the business and exchanged $320 in $20 bills for $1 bills.

When employees noticed that the $20 bills felt fake, they also noticed that they all had the same serial number and that they were missing other key security features.

The manager said that the man was out on the floor spending the legitimate $1 bills that he had received in exchange for the fake cash, but that he got scared and took off before police arrived.

Bouncers working at the club tried to catch the man as he left, but they were unsuccessful. It’s unclear how many of the real $1 bills the man made off with.

EPD says the counterfeit bills were taken and submitted to the department’s Financial Crimes Unit.
