Han Solo is coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park on April 29, but not all fans are satisfied with the new look of the intergalactic smuggler.
On April 15, the official “Star Wars” X account debuted a short sketch with the new Han Solo, who was originally played in the films by Harrison Ford.
“Never tell me the odds,” the welcome message on social media began, echoing one of the character’s iconic quotes. “Meet Han Solo, Captain of the Millennium Falcon, at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park starting April 29.”
Despite the enthusiastic intro, many of the reactions were quite critical of the new look.
“Meh. He’s no Harrison Ford,” responded @NotaSheep8621 on X.
“I’m sorry but that’s just some guy lol. They have similar issues with Star-Lord,” quipped @Delmancha129 on X, referring to the “Guardians of the Galaxy” lead elsewhere in the park.
Other responses accused Han Solo of looking like other Disney men, including X user @meokater (“So Disney turned a space prince into Prince Charming?! Come on, he still shot first!”) and several who referred to him as hunky “Beauty and the Beast” baddie Gaston.
Ultimately, X user @knmwt15000 quipped that it was the “Worst wig ever,” which certainly undercuts his celebration with his hairy friend Chewbacca at the end of the video.
Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge opened on May 31, 2019. In addition to Han Solo, other original trilogy favorites are set to join the park on April 29, including Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia.
