Chandigarh: The agenda regarding the meeting of the Board of Finance at Punjab University (PU) has been released. The meeting will be held on March 11. This time, a budget of around Rs 700 crore could be passed. If arrears are given to teachers under the seventh pay commission, then this budget will be a total of Rs 265 crore. PU will make an offer of Rs 1,000 crore before the Centre. Also, if the seventh pay commission recommendations are implemented for teachers, extra budget of Rs 66 crore will be placed before the Centre every year.
About 92% of the grant received by the government is used to pay teachers’ salaries. Every year, the centre increases the budget by 5% to 10%. Recommendations of the Board of Finance committee will be discussed in the meeting.
