After previously appearing to be indifferent about competing in the Tokyo Games, Rory McIlroy has caught the Olympic spirit. Following a Friday 66 to move into contention at Kasumigaseki Country Club, McIlroy said he’s “already looking forward to Paris” in 2024. What a turn of events!
Also, Rory, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Seamus Power just won a PGA Tour event and could be coming for your spot on Ireland’s team. . . OK, so McIlroy is probably pretty safe in that regard. In any event, McIlroy’s quote wasn’t just referring to him getting to participate in another Summer Games, but him getting to watch some of the other sports as well.
With no spectators allowed at any events due to COVID-19, the athletes have had to stay in their rooms to watch, something McIlroy called “a very watered-down experience to what it usually is.” But you’ll never guess which sport he’s really bummed about missing. No, you’ll really never guess.
“The one thing that”s on tonight that I would love to go the one thing I’ve always wanted to go and see is dressage,” McIlroy said. “Always. I just, I it’s mesmerizing and it’s on tonight at like 7:30. I’ll watch it on TV. I just think, I watch it once every few years, obviously and it’s like, I don’t know, it’s just, it’s mesmerizing and it’s really cool. I don’t know.”
Dressage?! Told you that you’d never guess.
Apologies to the equestrian world, but we’re really not sure what dressage is. Other than the fact it involves horses. Let’s turn to Wikipedia to learn more:

Yeah . . . still don’t get it. This is a lot more difficult to explain than “Hatless Rory.” Let’s take another stab at it:
