The Xiaomi Mijia Desktop Drinking Machine Smart Edition is now available to pre-order in China. You can use the gadget to make hot drinks, including tea, coffee and baby formula, or cold beverages like filtered water. The device has a 2,100 W heating element that can warm a drink in as little as three seconds.
You can control the temperature of the Mijia Desktop Drinking Machine Smart Edition between 40 and 95 °C (~104 °F) to 1 °C (~203 °F) accuracy via the OLED touch screen. A built-in NFC reader allows the gadget to memorize and repeat your desired drink temperature and volume when you use the accompanying smart thermos or a regular cup with an NFC tag. Alternatively, you can save custom drinks settings in the app. A built-in UV lamp in the water tank provides long-lasting sterilization, and a six-stage RO stage purifies the water by removing 98% of heavy metals, chlorine and bacteria.
The smart drinks machine has a 6.2 L capacity, with a 4.4 L tap water tank and a 1.8 L waste water tank. The company states that the raw waste is wholly isolated from the other elements to keep the device sanitary. The gadget dispenses water at a rate of 0.25 L (~8.5 fl. oz) per minute and measures 182 x 409 x 427 mm (~7.2 x 16.1 x 16.8-in). You can currently pre-order the Xiaomi Mijia Desktop Drinking Machine Smart Edition for the discounted price of 1,799 yuan (~US$256) with a 100 yuan (~US$14) deposit. The gadget is expected to retail for 1,999 yuan (~US$285) in the future.
