
SYLVANIA, Ohio – Whiteford’s boys basketball team went back to college Saturday.
The Bobcats who played during the holiday break in a tournament at Lourdes University, went back to that court Saturday to beat Clinton 62-40.
Whiteford (4-2) took command by outscoring Clinton 13-2 in the opening quarter and never looked back. It won every quarter.
Cole Giesige led the way with a season-high 23 points. Isaiah Joerim added 11 points and Luke Rasor 10.

Ida falls short
JONESVILLE – Ida trailed just 37-36 heading into the fourth quarter, but faltered down the stretch and dipped to 0-4.
“We went on the road for our third game of the week and ran out of gas,” Ida “Credit to Jonesville they played a great game and shot the ball very well. We made strides to get better this week, but we have to put together a full four quarters.”
Tyler Robertson led the Blue Streaks with 18 points and Nick Hovest added 11.

Two cuts for Schroeder
BELLEVILLE – Trevor Schroeder hit a pair of state qualifying times for Dundee in the Belleville Invitational Saturday.
He qualified in the 100-yard freestyle and swam with John Swisher, Lucas Hernandez and Drew Eastman on the 400 freestyle relay. Schroeder also won the 50 freestyle and improved on the state cut he already had posted.
No team scores were kept.
BOWLING
Airport girls perfect
Ryan Giese shot 201, Kasay Schook 170 and Kyla Peterson 163 as Airport’s girls ran their Huron League record to 6-0 with a 29-1 win over St. Mary Catholic Central Friday at Monroe Sport Center.
Huron beat Flat Rock 23-7 to stay a game behind Airport. Oliva Demick shot 204 and Mariah Nutter 175.
Dundee fell 26-4, but Kaylee Hovey won both of her match points.
New Boston Huron’s boys extended their league winning streak to 50 matches topping Airport 23-7 behind strong matches by Hayden Williams (219, 197) and Logan Wyszynski (218,190).
Dundee side past SMCC 18.5-11-5 for its first win of the season. Liberty Ostrander won two match points. Rachel Peladeau shot 198 and she and Aaron Ruetter won both of their match points.
Jefferson fell 24-6 to Riverview despite wins by Joe Pagano and Darren Cox.
