Jimmy Fallon must have lost a bet.
That’s the only logical explanation for why the Tonight Show host made a surprise appearance on Tuesday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, donning a white T-shirt, blue shorts, and one expertly feathered mullet.
The Saturday Night Live alum made his impromptu entrance while M3GAN 2.0 star Allison Williams was in the middle of telling Clarkson all about her “intrusive, catastrophic thoughts” and how they manifest in her life. And, honestly, Fallon may have just created a new fear for the actress as he burst in through the stage doors, finger guns ablaze, during their conversation.

Upon spotting Fallon and his unique look, Clarkson immediately threw her head back and began to laugh while Williams’ mouth dropped open in shock. Ever the professionals, the pair rolled with their surprise guest, pulling him into a hug before taking their seats.
“Keep going!” Fallon encouraged Clarkson and Williams. “Keep talking!”
With a thumb raised in the air, he added, “I’m hitchhiking! I need a ride home if anyone can give me a ride home, okay?”
With a kiss to the crowd, a peace sign, and a point at Clarkson, Fallon concluded, “Bye everybody, I love you.” He then exited from whence he came, mullet majestically swinging behind him.
“That wig, oh my God,” Clarkson confessed after Fallon’s departure. Williams simply replied, “He’s not… he’s not right.”
Clarkson had nothing but love for her fellow 30 Rock host, even if he totally derailed their interview. “I just love.. you never know what will happen in this building,” she said, adding, “No segue there, either.”
It’s not immediately clear exactly what led Fallon to sport such an interesting ensemble during his brief visit to Clarkson’s talk show. He appeared in his standard suit and tie during Monday night’s episode of The Tonight Show, but may potentially find himself sporting his much more laid-back look during a broadcast later this week. Or, perhaps, this is just what he wears in his free time?
Throughout the last six seasons of her eponymous talk show, Clarkson has been surprised multiple times by a flurry of different guests.
That includes when Garfield star Chris Pratt personally delivered a bunch of lasagnas on a bicycle to her and her guests and, on the sweeter side, when Accountant 2 actors Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal brought cake and flowers in honor of Clarkson’s 43rd birthday this April. Plus, who can forget when Jared Leto crashed the show shortly after climbing the Empire State Building?
