Austin Ausberry, a four-star quarterback from University Lab High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, will announce his college commitment live Monday on CBS Sports HQ at 1:45 p.m. ET. Ausberry has narrowed down his choices to Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Florida and Michigan. The 247Sports Crystal Ball gives LSU the edge in landing his services. Ausberry is ranked No. 177 overall and is the 22nd-ranked cornerback in the 2022 recruiting class. He is the 13th-ranked player in the state of Louisiana — one of the top states in the country for producing stars. He is slated to play cornerback in college but also logged snaps at safety and wide receiver.
Ausberry has made unofficial visits to Florida and Alabama during the fall, and also made an official visit to Auburn the weekend of Oct. 9. Coach Bryan Harsin’s and several other members of the Auburn staff have made a heavy push over the last few weeks despite the Crystal Ball favoring Ausberry’s hometown LSU Tigers instead of Auburn.
The early signing period will begin on Wednesday and last through Friday. It’ll be interesting to see if LSU coach Brian Kelly will be able to hold on to the hometown kid, or if the heavy push from other programs with more established coaches can slide in and steal him from under Kelly’s nose.
