Was Gal Gadot’s Hollywood star destroyed? Here’s what we know

Will Gal Gadot be celebrating her brand-spanking-new Hollywood Walk of Fame star with enough champagne to fill the Nile? We doubt it.

Gadot, who plays the venomous Evil Queen in the new live-action Snow White remake, saw her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony disrupted this week by protestors critical of her pro-Israel stance regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Now, a March 18 post is going viral on X (formerly Twitter) that depicts a vandalized Hollywood Walk of Fame star that many believe belongs to the actress. Shared by user @jaguars_lauregu, the post is quoting a different post about Gadot’s Hollywood star. “I’m just a girl from a town in Israel. […] This star will remind me that with hard work and passion and some faith, anything is possible,” the original tweet quotes Gadot as saying during her ceremony. The repost simply says, “Too late,” with two photos of a Hollywood star that’s been smashed. A mattock lays on the ground next to the demolished star.

At the time of this writing, the viral post from @jaguars_lauregu, named after Fifth Harmony singer Lauren Jauregui and marked as a parody account, has nearly 600,000 likes and more than 38,000 additional reposts. But is it real?

Entertainment Weekly made a visit to Gal Gadot’s Walk of Fame star — located just outside the El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. — on Thursday and can confirm it has not been vandalized (see photo above). The images shown in the viral post bear a strong resemblance to the damage done to Donald Trump’s Hollywood star in 2018, but it is unclear if they are original photos from that incident or manipulated.

A Walk of Fame representative did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.

Among those celebrating Gadot at her Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony on Tuesday were Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins and the actress’ Fast & Furious costar Vin Diesel. As they toasted Gadot, however, others decried her.

According to Variety, several dozen protestors chanted beyond the tented area where the ceremony was unfolding. While many pro-Palestine protestors criticized Gadot, there was also a contingent of Israel supporters defending the actress. Though no one was hurt, there was a struggle after a protestor snatched a flag from someone on the opposing side and ran down the street, resulting in police intervention.

Los Angeles Police Department Officer Norma Eisenman told EW that there were no arrests.

This isn’t the first time Gadot has been criticized by pro-Palestine groups. In August 2024, following the release of Snow White‘s trailer, a member of the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel called for a boycott of the film.

“By choosing to directly represent genocidal Israel, Gal Gadot’s films are boycottable,” a spokesperson for the organization told The Guardian.

Adding fuel to the fire are the media reports pitting Gadot against her Snow White costar Rachel Zegler, a vocal supporter of Palestine. In early 2024, Newsweek wrote the pair were on a “collision course,” though neither has spoken publicly about the other’s stance.

That said, Zegler has maintained her pro-Palestine stance. “I can’t watch children die. I don’t think that should be a hot take,” she told Variety last year.

What has Gal Gadot said about the Israel-Palestine conflict?

Gadot is a native of Israel who, in addition to being a former Miss Israel, served in the Israeli Defense Forces before finding fame as an actress.

Following the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Palestinian militant group Hamas, Gadot shared a post via Instagram declaring that “the world has failed the women of October 7th” and that the attacks represent an “urgent emergency that demands a decisive response.”

In a Variety interview published the same day as her induction ceremony, she touched on similar topics. “[On] October 7th, when people were abducted from their homes, from their beds, men, women, children, elderly, Holocaust survivors, were going through the horrors of what happened that day, I could not be silent,” she said. “I was shocked by the amount of hate, by the amount of how much people think they know when they actually have no idea, and also by how the media is not fair many times. So I had to speak up.”

Roma Ealaicos, a pro-Palestine protestor at Gadot’s ceremony, told Variety, “We’re all really upset about what’s happening in Gaza right now. From the last year and a half, and especially in the last 24 to 48 hours, 400 innocent people have been killed by the Israeli military, unprovoked,” referring to airstrikes in Gaza earlier this week. He added, “There’s no reason we should be celebrating an Israeli.”

Dana Nikri, a supporter of Israel who was also in the crowd during the ceremony, defended her position, citing the Oct. 7 attacks. “They come [to] our home and take us from our home and give us dead children,” she told the outlet. “We don’t start war, we don’t want war at all.”
