Twitter’s first major change under Elon Musk is to charge ~RM95/month for verified accounts

Previously, we reported that the Elon Musk Twitter takeover has finally taken place, with many of the company’s previous top execs being axed by the world’s richest man as a result. Now, another major change is spicing up the platform, this time in regards to how Twitter will be implementing verified accounts.

As reported by The Verge, Musk has reportedly told employees to meet his deadline to introduce paid verification on the platform or they will be axed. The new owner allegedly set up a new directive to change Twitter Blue, the company’s optional USD4.99/month or ~RM24/month subscription service into a more expensive subscription service that also gave users verified accounts with the blue tick.

Twitter is reportedly planning to charge USD19.99/month or ~RM95/month for this revamped Twitter Blue subscription. Moreover, users that already have verified accounts are given 90 days to subscribe to the new service or they’ll lose their blue checkmark.

Musk himself has alluded to the new change via his official Twitter account. Recently, he tweeted that “The whole verification process is being revamped right now.”
