SEGMENT 1 (6:15) – John & Kevin welcome you to Season 12, Episode 2 of This Week in the Big East! We are in the midst of 10 consecutive weeks of the program leading us into the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden in early March. Through two full weeks on conference play, UConn is the team to beat in the Big East and a definite National Championship contender once again. The Huskies have won five in a row to start league play with four of those wins by double digits.
SEGMENT 2 (10:12) – Big East Spotlight: Seton Hall Head Coach – Shaheen Holloway: John and Kevin welcome coach Holloway into the program to discuss the surprise start to the season for the Seton Hall Pirates. Surpassing all preseason projections, the Pirates are off to a 13-2 start overall and are 3-1 within Big East play. Coach Holloway breaks down how he rebuilt the Seton Hall roster so quickly coming into this season after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign.
SEGMENT 3 (4:14) – Who’s Hot: John and Kevin run through the weekly awards for the Big East Conference as well as the Big East Honor Roll! In our Big East “Blast from the Past”, we turn back the clock 7 years ago this weekend when Marquette’s Markus Howard lit up Creighton for a career-best 53 points, hitting 10 three-pointers and hauling in 9 rebounds while dishing out 9 assists! The 53 points still stands as the Big East single game scoring record.
SEGMENT 4 (10:23) – Big East Focus: – UConn Senior Forward – Alex Karaban: John and Kevin welcome “Captain America” into This Week in the Big East! Karaban has the experience of being on two National Championship teams with Connecticut and is now the go-to guy for head coach Dan Hurley. Alex also tells us what it was like to play this week in the instant classic between UConn and Providence, a game the Huskies trailed by 11 with only 3 minutes to go in regulation, yet UConn prevailed in overtime.
SEGMENT 5 (11:04) – The National Perspective: NBC Sports play-by-play Announcer – John Fanta: Kevin and John are joined by John Fanta of NBC Sports and Peacock to look at the big picture view of the Big East Conference. John had the call of the classic UConn at Providence game on Wednesday night; a game UConn won in overtime. He feels the Huskies are poised to make a run at another National Title, but also thinks the Big East could get up to 6 teams into March Madness.
SEGMENT 6 (2:42) – Who’s Got Next? John & Kevin wrap up the second episode of This Week in the Big East for the 2025-26 season by previewing the best games coming up this weekend and taking a look forward into the second full week of January Big East play.
