When Travis Kelce proposed to Taylor Swift, the waterworks were on.
In a new interview for NFL on FOX that aired on Sunday, Sept. 14, Erin Andrews asked the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, just how “rattled” he got while getting down on one knee — and he admitted that “a few tears” were shed.
“She can tell that story. The palms were definitely sweating,” said Kelce in a preview of the interview that was shared on X.
“I’m an emotional guy, so there were a few tears here and there,” he added. “But it’s been an exciting ride up to this day, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her.”
Just before asking about the engagement, Andrews — who has previously vacationed with the newly engaged couple — asked how much happier Swift, 35, makes the NFL star.
Kelce’s response? “She has brought excitement and a joy for life that made me a better man, made me a better person, and made me just that much more comfortable in who I am,” he said.
The sports broadcaster also referred to Swift’s description of her fiancé as a “human exclamation point” — an observation she made during her Aug. 13 appearance on his New Heights podcast — while asking Kelce what he wants his post-NFL “legacy to be.”
“Um, that I was a good teammate, I was a good person in the community. I just love what I do,” said the athlete, who recently kicked off his 13th NFL season with the Chiefs.

“I don’t know. I’m not here for any other reasons. I just love coming in, playing football and giving people something to get excited for outside of their lives on Sundays,” he continued. “Hopefully they can see how much excitement I bring to my life, and they can bring that to others.”
Kelce and Swift announced their engagement on Instagram on Aug. 26 after two years of dating, sharing sweet photos from the proposal with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
The Chiefs player popped the question at his home in Missouri after telling Swift, “Let’s go out and have a glass of wine,” his dad, Ed, later revealed to News 5 Cleveland.
“They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful,” said the proud dad.

Kelce popped the question to Swift with an old mine, brilliant cut diamond — a ring the 14-time Grammy winner is “still showing off,” a source recently told PEOPLE.
The same source told PEOPLE that while the NFL star and musician shared their engagement news with the world, the pair “want to keep it more private” when they tie the knot.
“It will definitely be a private affair and not a spectacle,” the insider said of their nuptials. “They both have a close circle of friends, and they’ll respect their privacy.”
“She’s incredibly happy,” the source added of Swift. “It’s all just perfect.”
