Travis financial institution honored by the Air Force – The Vacaville Reporter

Armed Forces Bank at Travis Air Force Base has been named “Distinguished Bank of the Year” by The Department of the Air Force.

The financial institution has won the designation, which recognizes the on-base financial institutions that provided exceptional service to the community during the preceding calendar year, for 11 of the last 12 years.

Armed Forces Bank was recognized for its leadership in serving military service members and their families with a vast array of banking services, installation support and financial education. The bank serves an estimated 128,000 active duty and retired military, government personnel and their families.

For the 2021 calendar year, AFB received 13 nominations combined from the three branches of service (Army, Air Force and Navy) for the award by Command Leadership at military installations around the country.

The bank was formally recognized at the Annual Workshop hosted by the Association of Military Banks of America in August in Washington, DC.

AFB was also the only bank of 144 financial institutions to earn the Military Saves “Designation of Savings Excellence.” The designation, which highlights institutions that made an extraordinary effort to promote positive saving behaviors and took actions to improve the financial stability of their community, for nine out of the last 10 years.

The Military Saves program is coordinated by the non-profit Consumer Federation of America and is designed to help service members and their families save money, reduce debt and build wealth.

“We are honored to have received both awards over the course of many years, which reflect our steadfast commitment to meeting the distinct needs of military service members and their families,” said Paul Holewinski, CEO of Armed Forces Bank and Dickinson Financial Corporation, in a press statement. “No matter where they are stationed or deployed around the world, AFB strives to provide the best banking solutions and financial advice.”

To help military clients effectively manage their finances no matter where they are, Armed Forces Bank created the HERO and Access Loan Programs, which offer advantageous financing options and the opportunity to establish roots:

The bank also recently launched the Militarily Speaking podcast, which shares stories and offers insights about financial practices as well as strategies to help service members get ahead. The podcast discusses military benefits members should take advantage of to become more financially independent and features representatives of various organizations. Guests highlight resources that help service members prepare for important milestones, such as Permanent Changes of Station moves and the eventual transition to civilian life.

“As our military customers’ unique needs evolve, we are continuously working to stay on the leading edge of providing accessible, convenient and effective service,” said Tom McLean, SVP and Regional Military Executive for Armed Forces Bank, in the statement. “We consider it an honor to serve active and retired military service members and their families, all of whom are dedicated to serving our country.”
