‘Traitors’ star Tony Vlachos doubles down on Boston Rob as ‘such a sellout’

It was a Survivor-on-Survivor crime. With the cast of The Traitors starting to focus on Bob the Drag Queen as a Traitor during the three-episode premiere on Peacock, fellow Traitor Boston Rob Mariano needed a distraction, so he diverted attention over to another suspect: his former Survivor: Winners at War castmate Tony Vlachos.

And that sealed the two-time Survivor champion’s fate, as Tony was overwhelmingly banished (incorrectly) by the table. But he did not go gently into that good night, pointing at Boston Rob and informing him “You’re a sellout, bro.”

Does Tony stand by that accusation? We asked him exactly that when we connected with the reality TV legend after his televised ouster. We also wanted to know: How angry was he after leaving the castle? What does he wish he done differently in the game? And whom is he rooting for to win the loot? The founding member of Cops-R-Us tells all.

TONY VLACHOS: Oh, man — he’s such a sellout, that dude. I don’t know what his problem is, man. So usually when I saw the Survivor players there, I was so excited because it’s us against them pretty much, right? It’s no longer us against each other. It’s not Survivor, it’s a castle. And we got to try to knock out everybody and win in the end. And if Rob didn’t sell me out, he would’ve won in the end because I would’ve never ever turned my back on him. I would’ve thought he’s a Faithful with me and we would’ve made all the way to the end and he could have got the last laugh. But now he looks like a sellout and he’s going to probably lose the game because of that.

One of the things he said was that he gave you the Shield and then you didn’t talk to him at all after that. Is that true?

I mean, to an extent it’s true. But me and Jeremy, I mean, we know we got each other’s back. I’m not going to keep running to him privately to talk to him. We know what’s up. I didn’t have no information to give Rob, so what am I going to go say, “Hey Rob, how you doing today? How’s the weather? How’s your hat fitting on your head today?” I’m not going to do all that.

So he should have known that I’m trying to keep my distance from him so people don’t see us congregating together. I mean, that should be an unspoken strategic point of the game — to keep away from each other, not to look like we’re forming something.
