The Pitt Fans Think They Found Another Continuity Error in Season 2

The Pitt fans are pointing out another possible continuity error after they previously flagged an editing mistake earlier in the season.

During the Thursday, February 26, episode of the HBO Max show, McKay (Fiona Dourif) spoke to Langdon (Patrick Ball) about her sobriety and revealed she has been sober for “nine years and counting.” Some eagle-eyed viewers, however, questioned the math, since McKay previously said she was “nine years, five months and 11 days” sober in season 1 — which took place 10 months prior to the events of season 2.

“So shouldn’t she be ten years sober now since [nearly] a year has passed,” read a post via X while someone else replied, “S1 takes place in September and S2 takes place in July. That’s not a full year so she could still be 9 years sober if she started counting in August or September.”

The Pitt previously raised questions with the season 2 premiere, which aired in January. In the episode, Langdon returned to the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center for the first time after his last shift ended with him getting dismissed and seeking help for his substance abuse issues.'Outer Banks' Season 3 Ending Explained- Who Died and Where Did the Other Characters End Up? - 263

While TV shows and movies have teams dedicated to making sure nothing goes wrong on the production side, things slip through the cracks from time to time. That’s where fans come in. Over the years, viewers have pointed out the entertainment industry’s mishaps including the famous Starbucks cup of 2019 that popped up in a […]

Viewers couldn’t help notice that at first glance, Langdon wasn’t wearing anything on his ring finger. But by the time he had officially returned to start his shift, a wedding band appeared on his left hand.

“Deciphering why langdon shows up without his ring when he arrives to change for his shift and then later appears wearing a ring,” a social media user wrote via X.

Another fan was confused about whether it was intentional, adding, “What EYE don’t understand is he was wearing in his street clothes with the ring ON but then had it OFF at the lockers and OFF with dana but then had it on again when he was getting his mel hug so ? is it continuity error or WHAT?”

Others thought Langdon’s wedding ring would be brought up later in the season.

“Him coming from home without his ring but putting it on for his shift. Oh he’s sooo separated but not ready to talk about it people!!!!” read an X theory, while someone else suggested, “He put it on after the scene with dana after he ties up his scrubs… he’s wearing the ring for appearances… WALK WITH ME!”The Pitt

The Pitt has been renewed for a second season — but the Max series has already gone through several changes. Ball, 35, previously weighed in on the state of his character’s marriage, telling Us Weekly in September 2025, “Everything’s really great and I’m really happy.”

The actor went on to play coy about the overwhelming support for Langdon to find love with coworker Dr. Melissa “Mel” King (Taylor Dearden).

Ball did hint that Langdon and Mel would see a shift in the workplace, adding, “I think the tables have turned a little bit. Coming out of rehab and doing some soul-searching, I might need a little encouragement.”

New episodes of The Pitt premiere on HBO Max every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.
