On Nov., Waterford voters will go to the polls to elect members of the Waterford Board of Finance. The Democratic candidates are particularly qualified to serve. Three candidates are running to fill four-year terms.
Incumbent BOF member Glenn Patterson is seeking his second term on the Board. He is a BOF representative on the Long-Range Fiscal Planning Committee where he advocates thoughtful long-range planning.
Joseph Filippetti is a former member of the BOF who has significant financial experience in his work with the banking industry. He is an astute questioner of department and agency heads.
David Peabody is a member of the Personnel Review Board who has extensive financial experience in the private sector. He will bring fresh eyes to budgets and expenditure requests.
Baird Welch-Collins is running to fill the remaining two years of a resigned member of the BOF. He is a two-term incumbent on the Representative Town Meeting and a representative of the RTM on the Long-Range Fiscal Planning Committee. He has seen the impact of reactive financial policies and plans to work to plan proactively to protect the economic advantages Waterford currently enjoys.
