Texas State vs. Louisiana prediction and odds for Sun Belt Semifinals

Texas State has been the Cinderella of the Sun Belt Tournament, but will it continue in the semis against Louisiana?

The Ragin’ Cajun are the No. 2 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament and face the 11 seed Bobcats, who stunned Marshall, 71-68 on Saturday. Can the team make it four wins in five days to get to the Sun Belt finals?

Here are the odds for the Sunday night matchup:

Texas State vs. Louisiana prediction and pick

The Ragin’ Cajun swept the regular season series against the Bobcats, winning by nine on the road on January 21st and 19 at home on February 2nd.

While Texas State has been playing incredibly well over the past week to make a surprise run to the semis, I think the buck stops here as this is a tough matchup for them, mainly due to the physicality of the Louisiana frontcourt.

The No. 2 seed is an incredibly rim reliant offense, posting the Sun Belt’s second lowest three-point rate and the third best two-point field goal percentage in the league. The Bobcats interior defense leaves a ton to be desired as they struggle to keep teams outside the paint and have the third worst two-point defense in the conference.

Overall, Louisiana’s the best offense in the conference, excelling across the board and I don’t believe Texas State has the firepower to keep up. The team is over reliant on second chances and getting to the free throw line, second in offensive rebounding percentage, but Louisiana is the best team on the defensive glass.

Texas State has been a great story, but the buck stops here with the Ragin Cajun’s ability to dominate on offense, particularly on the inside.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
