RED BLUFF — Tehama County Auditor-Controller LeRoy Anderson Tuesday will give the Board of Supervisors an overview of the county’s finances through Sept. 30.
The first quarter saw less revenue overall than last year and slightly higher than the prior year’s average. Expenses for this quarter are slightly higher than the prior year and higher than average.
The county has $319,000 less revenue than last year and is above the prior year’s average revenue by just $55,000, according to Anderson’s notes. The county saw a significant increase in tax revenue and a similar decrease in charges for service.
At the same time, total expenses are $469,000 higher than last year and $1,389,000 higher than the average. The most significant increase in expenses was seen in transfers.
The current year 2022-2023 actual revenue and expense are compared to the average of three prior fiscal years by percentages and dollar amounts.
Anderson will go into more detail during Tuesday’s meeting.
In other business
The supervisors will continue a public nuisance hearing from its Aug. 23 meeting against a business on the 4900 block of Hall Road in Corning.
In June 2021, Tehama County Code Enforcement inspected the premises. The enforcement officer issued a notice of violation and proposed an administrative penalty to the owner.
Code enforcement sent an invoice requesting payment, but as of July 25, no payments have been received.
The supervisors pushed this hearing back twice, the last time to Tuesday’s meeting.
Code enforcement is asking the supervisors to adopt an administrative penalty lien resolution making determinations and ordering that the amount of administrative penalty relating to public nuisance be enforced as liens against the affected property and further ordering recording of notices of administrative penalty lien.
The Tehama County Board of Supervisors meets at 10 a.m. Tuesday at 727 Oak St. in Red Bluff. Meetings are free and open to the public.
