The postseason accolades keep coming in for former Tam High baseball star Tucker Bougie.
On Wednesday, the Cal signee was named the West Coast Preps Bay Area Pitcher of the Year.
Bougie went 6-0 on the mound with a 0.43 earned run average with 54 strikeouts to 14 walks in 32.1 innings. He was lethal at the top of the rotation for the Red-tailed Hawks, who were the MCAL’s top team at 19-1. Bougie also batted .472 with four home runs and 15 RBIs in 19 games.
CalHi Sports named him the Medium Schools State Player of the Year while the SF Chronicle named him and teammate Alex Dargan as the Co-Players of the Year for the North Bay.
Olympics
Joe Ryan and Dylan Woodhead are set to continue their Olympic journeys later this week.
Ryan and Team USA baseball will face Israel on Friday at 3 a.m. PDT in their group play opener.
Woodhead and the U.S. Men’s Water Polo team will face Hungary on Friday at 10 p.m. PDT in their penultimate group play match. They played Italy on Wednesday but results were not available by press time.
Girls basketball
Marin Catholic’s Gracyn Lovette, a rising junior, made the Second-Team All-State Sophomore list for CalHi Sports on Wednesday.
Lovette averaged 13.5 points per game as a sophomore and helped lead the Wildcats to a 7-0 record in the MCAL.
She was also named the North Bay Player of the Year by the SF Chronicle.
