RICHMOND, Ky. – During the month of November alone, over $50,000 in new dollars were raised as part of EKU Athletics’ Next Level November efforts, the department has announced. The crowdfunding campaign, culminating on the internationally recognized #GivingTuesday, saw five sport programs bring in over $5,000 each to directly impact the student-athlete experience in a variety of ways. The giving efforts of the EKU community capped an impressive month of external success for the Athletics Department.

“Colonel fans and investors continue to help propel our department towards continued growth and success,” said Vice President and Director of Athletics Matt Roan. “Whether near or far, the commitment of those who have been supporters for a long time, those getting involved for the very first time, alums of the institution, and alums of our athletic programs is greatly appreciated by our student-athletes, coaches, and staff.  This generosity and leadership will help take our programs to new heights and provide a best-in-class experience to our student-athletes.”

EKU Athletics will also take part in the campus-wide EKU Giving Day on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. During its most recent EKU Giving Day, EKU Athletics saw an increase of 1,444 percent in total dollars raised over the previous effort in 2019, including 100 percent of coaches and staff giving in support.

Earlier in November, the department announced that new benchmarks had been set for season tickets distributed for both the men’s basketball and women’s basketball programs. The men’s basketball program sold over 500 new, public season tickets for the 2021-22 season. Single game tickets for the 2021-22 basketball campaigns are still available at EKUSports.com.

Individuals wishing to provide opportunity to EKU student-athletes through philanthropic giving are encouraged to visit EKUSports.com or contact Grant Stepp or Robert Sampson in the Colonel Club office for information.

Contributions made to the Colonel Club are unrestricted gifts used to benefit EKU Athletics and its student-athletes, including scholarship support. Contributions made to an individual sport fund are used to benefit that program directly. Sport-specific supporters will be recognized as Colonel Club members, but all benefits are realized through the individual sports office. Supporters can decline the benefits for the 100% tax-deduction. The Colonel Club accepts many types of gifts that are consistent with the missions, purposes and priorities of EKU Athletics. These include current gifts, such as cash or stock transfers, and deferred gifts, such as will bequests. You can make gifts in a variety of convenient ways, including online, over the phone, via mail and in person.
