Stupefied by Broward political sideshows

Looking south from above the Palm Beach County line, I’ve been stupefied by the clown show Broward County has become. The latest clowns are the five politically appointed short-term School Board members who rode in on a mission to pull the rug out from under Superintendent Vickie Cartwright.

Their sneak attack was legally debatable, but their intent was crystal clear: Get Cartwright out and anyone else who “Ronnie Boy” DeSantis feels won’t toe the line as he pursues an agenda of banning, brainwashing and censorship.

The public schools are the latest proof that Broward harbors the most dysfunctional “leadership” I can recall in the past 55 years. So sad.

Democrats are celebrating that democracy is saved, but what does that mean?

That the FBI can continue to stonewall the investigation of Hunter Biden and the President? That the Department of Justice can castigate anyone with an opinion opposed to our dictatorial administration? That anyone supporting voter integrity is in favor of voter suppression?

That millions of immigrants can cross our border with no legal repercussions?

This is your definition of democracy? Who are you kidding?

While dozing off and feeling a sense of relief, I saw the image of the hard-right U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, spouting his goals for his party’s future: to investigate Hunter Biden. Wow.

I guess he never processed the fact that people want more than the same attacks on political parties or families of opponents. It shows you they have no agenda other than “red meat” to digest. That’s not a healthy scenario for today’s political diet, as the midterm elections showed.

Republicans are sore losers. They can only deal with losses by complaining that there was fraud, as seen by election denier Kari Lake in Arizona, who has not yet conceded and wants an investigation. Of course, Trump’s declaring for president a third time is the icing on the MAGA cake filled with rumors and conspiracy theories — also unhealthy for voters.

News based on facts and truth is totally unaccepted by today’s Republicans. The party of ‘No” has taken a blow, but they just don’t get it.

I have been a Miami Dolphins season ticket holder for 44 years.

I recently received an email from the Dolphins stating that they have decided not to renew my account for 2023 and beyond, pursuant to their terms and conditions. Apparently they were upset because I have resold several of my game tickets in the last couple of years in response to COVID-19 concerns. However, the Dolphins in turn promote selling the tickets through the NFL Ticket Exchange. Nothing in the terms and conditions prohibits doing this.

I have supported and been at the games through all the leans years of Dolphin football only to be drop-kicked by them without so much as a phone call to thank me for my many years of loyal support. Now that the team is doing well, what a way this is to treat your customers.

But I remain a diehard Dolphins fan.

There’s no way to sugar coat this or dress it up and make it look less disgusting than it is.

A violent crime was committed. A coup was attempted against our government. People were killed, and our newly elected House majority has stated that immediately upon assuming office, they will disband the committee investigating these atrocities. There’s only one conceivable reason officials would halt an investigation of a violent crime: They are afraid of the results and they don’t want the truth to come out.

Responsible officials would demand that this crime be quickly, fully investigated. The more innocent that people are, the more they should demand an investigation to clear their names. Their attempt to hide the truth speaks volumes. We should demand the immediate resignation of elected officials so despicable they put politics ahead of truth and justice.
