First pitch: From prospects to comebacks, 3 things I heard around MLB last week
The NHL postseason was shaken up on Sunday night after the Presidents Cup winners Boston Bruins were upset by the Florida Panthers in Game 7 in overtime.
The Bruins were the clear favorites to win the Stanley Cup after winning an NHL record amount of games in 2023, but the Panthers rallied from down 3-1 in the series to win on the road in Game 7 shocking fashion, including a game tying goal in the final minute of regulation.
Now that the clear favorites are out, who is left?
The two Canadian teams left in the field have emerged as the most likely team to win the Stanley Cup, the Toronto Maple Leafs (+350) and Edmonton Oilers (+450). However, it’s far from a certainty that those two teams will make it with five teams listed at under +1000 and one more Game 7 left to decide who advances to the second round between the New Jersey Devils (+1100) and New York Rangers (+1300).
In the East, The Maple Leafs are set to face the upstart Panthers while the Carolina Hurricanes (+700) meet the winner of the two New York teams. Over in the Western Conference, the Oilers are favored over the Golden Knights despite not having home ice while the Dallas Stars face the Seattle Kraken.
It’s a wide open field, make sure to take advantage some of these enticing sportsbook promos below and ride a team to the Cup!
