SOMERS — The Board of Finance this week appointed Bruce E. Devlin to fill a seat left vacant by the July 20 death of long-term member James Persano.
Devlin’s yearlong replacement term will begin in September. Voters at the next municipal election will choose the permanent replacement.
Board members interviewed Devlin and Jason Snukis, the other candidate who applied for the position, in separate executive sessions during a meeting in Town Hall on Tuesday.
Chairman Michael Parker said in the open session before the vote that both men presented themselves well during the interviews and would be an asset to the Board of Finance.
After the meeting, Parker said Devlin’s experience as a member of the Board of Education and knowledge of the annual budget process will be a help to the Board of Finance.
