Shauhin is desperate for immunity in ‘Survivor 48’ exclusive deleted scene

This week’s episode of Survivor 48 featured the dramatic (and a bit confusing) end to an immunity challenge, where Jeff Probst called Joe Hunter as the winner… only to then quickly correct himself and award first place to Kamilla Karthigesu instead once he realized Joe had the wrong color eye symbol on each side.

One person far removed from that photo finish was Shauhin Davari, who expressed later in the episode how disappointed he was in himself for not being able to pull out a challenge win. Ah, but now, thanks to an exclusive deleted scene, we can magically travel back to a kinder, simpler time when possibilities were endless and immunity necklace dreams ran wild.

In the scene, which can be watched above, we see Kyle Fraser approach the tribe with what he describes as a “Proclamation from King Jeff” (or, you know, Tree Mail). He then proceeds to read the note: “Technology is the keystone of your game. Balance, wit, and dexterity may be all that protects your flame.”

While players worry about any contest that requires balance taking place in what appears to be heavy winds, we are then treated to a confessional interview with a most eager and excited Shauhin. “We get Tree Mail today, and it’s an opportunity for me to finally win an immunity challenge,” he explains.

Not only that, but a confident Shauhin has a feeling his losing streak is about to come to an end! “Today is my day. If it’s a balance challenge, I have a really good shot at winning. I have great balance and I do want to win. I want to win really badly, because right now I don’t have any wins under my belt. Joe has some, Kyle has some, Eva has some. I want to wear the immunity necklace.”

Sadly, it did not turn out that way for Shauhin. But, on the plus side, if he’s keeping score against Joe, Kyle, and Eva, at least they did not increase their lead against him. On the minus side, he now has fewer individual challenge wins than self-proclaimed “135, 5-1, all fat, no muscle” Kamilla. (Gulp.)

Seemingly less concerned about the upcoming immunity contest is the person who needed it the most, Mary Zheng. “So Tree Mail today is basically, we have this challenge and it involves primitive technology, and these challenges, they will be what they will be,” Mary explains in a confessional interview. “And so I’m kind of just like, ‘Cool. We have another challenge. It’s an immunity. I hope I can pull out a win.’”

However, Mary is definitely not putting all of her strategic eggs into that one competition basket. “I’m also prepared for the worst case scenario, which is that I don’t, and then I have to make this crazy ass speech at Tribal tonight.”

Wait, what crazy ass speech? Where’s that deleted scene?!? Anyway, to see all the pre-challenge chatter for yourself, check out the video at the top of the article, and then dive into our full episode recap.
