See ‘SNL’ cast members at ‘Saturday Night Live’ 50th anniversary special

Live from New York, it’s the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special!

Past and current cast members hit the red carpet on Sunday to celebrate the milestone anniversary for the Emmy-winning sketch comedy institution created by Lorne Michaels in 1975. SNL50: The Red Carpet, cohosted by Today and Morning Joe anchor Willie Geist and SNL alum Leslie Jones, begins at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, followed by the live three-hour primetime special at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, all on NBC and Peacock.

Some of the stars expected to take the stage tonight include original Not Ready for Prime Time Players Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, and Laraine Newman; the comedian largely credited for saving SNL in the ’80s, Eddie Murphy; one-season wonder Martin Short; ’90s era stars Will Ferrell, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, and Molly Shannon; superstars of the 2000s, including Fred Armisen, Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, Will Forte, Seth Meyers, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, and Kristen Wiig; recent alums like Kate McKinnon and Pete Davidson; plus the show’s longest-serving cast member, Kenan Thompson; and Tracy Morgan, who was absent from the 40th anniversary special in 2015 after a horrible car crash put him in a two-week coma.
