EXCLUSIVE: International buyers have sparked to the idea of seeing Oscar winner Russell Crowe return to battle the Roman Empire in action movie The Last Druid, a hot seller for AGC at the recent AFM.
25 years after he got his vengeance against Rome in Gladiator, Crowe is set to stir the warrior within once more for the project. Pic will chart how an Emperor discovers a secluded Druid stronghold in the mountains of Caledonia. A peaceful Celtic elder (Crowe) must take up arms to protect his family and people from annihilation.
Stuart Ford’s AGC launched sales at the AFM with Range Media Partners and CAA Media Finance repping domestic. Will Eubank (Underwater) is set to direct from a script he penned with Phil Gawthorne and Carlyle Eubank. Filming is due to begin next year with additional casting underway.
AGC has inked deals with Amazon Studios for UK & Ireland, Australia/New Zealand, and Canada; Plaion Pictures for Germany, Italy and Switzerland; Tripictures/Dea Planeta for Spain; Plus Films (Imagem) for Latin America; Arna Media for CIS; and Vertical Distribution for Poland, Romania, Ex-Yugoslavia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Czech Republic.
Deals have also firmed in Greece (Spentzos Films), Portugal (Pris Audiovisuais), Middle East (Selim Ramia & Co), Turkey (BG Films), Israel (United King), India (Lionsgate Play), Baltic States (ACME Film), West Indies (ATM Film Distributors) and Mongolia (Filmbridge).
42’s Ben Pugh is producing alongside Range Media Partners’ Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger, with Adrián Guerra also producing for Nostromo. Felix Farmer’s Brandon Millan and Sam Wasson will executive-produce alongside George Hsieh.
