Robert F. Kennedy Jr. doesn’t want to be former President Donald Trump’s running mate in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
“I don’t think that my marriage would survive it,” Kennedy told Variety‘s Marc Malkin at the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” Season 12 premiere in Los Angeles.
“I think he’s right,” added Kennedy’s wife, Cheryl Hines.
Malkin then asked Kennedy if he just wants to run for U.S. president, to which Kennedy simply replied, “Yeah.”
Reports have been circulating the past week about Trump’s team approaching Kennedy to serve as his running mate in Trump’s Republican campaign.
“Trump operatives expressed an interest in Kennedy early on, but it was all premature,” one source told the New York Post.
Senior Trump advisor Chris LaCivita refuted these claims that the campaign had reached out to Kennedy, writing on X/Twitter on Saturday, “NO ONE from the Trump Campaign ever approached RFK Jr. (or ever will)—one of the most LIBERAL and radical environmentalists in the country.”
Kennedy announced his campaign for the U.S. presidential election in April of last year. He initially ran for the Democratic Party nomination, but announced in October that he would switch to the Independent party.
Kennedy attended the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” final season premiere alongside Hines, who portrays Larry David’s wife on the HBO comedy series.
