Respawn Entertainment has been receiving backlash from fans of the Titanfall franchise recently, as evidenced by the “Save Titanfall” hack in Apex Legends. Titanfall has been plagued by server issues caused by hackers for quite some time, and players are at their wits’ end. That being said, they may want to manage their expectations, as Respawn Community Manager Jason Garza recently explained that only “one or two” people are still actively working on the game.

During a live YouTube stream, Respawn Entertainment Community Manager Jason Garza shed some light on the current situation with Titanfall and Apex Legends.
“Hi Jason, wondering if you respond to Twitter DMs because I am wanting to discuss some things about Titanfall 2 with you. Our community is at our wits’ end and feels abandoned,” wrote one viewer in the chat.
“You’re not abandoned. It’s a game of whack-a-mole with us. And the thing is we don’t — I stopped discussing about that stuff because we’re trying to, we can’t…the thing is I don’t want to say we’re working on it because yeah we’re working on it, but it just becomes like, you can only what that for so many time before it becomes useless,” Garza explained.
He went on to add that given the nature of the problems with Titanfall hackers and servers, they often have to remain mum about their plans and efforts.
“But we are working on it, we just can’t say what we’re doing and stuff like that, it’s just that because now it’s a different type of game with these people that DDoS and stuff like that, and blacklist and stuff like that. So we can’t telegraph our moves, we can’t say what we’re doing. All I could say is we’re working on it. And that’s the reason I stopped talking about things like that.”
“The Titanfall community is not forgotten or abandoned or anything like that. We’re still working on it. … We only have one or two people on it, because the rest, everybody else is on [Apex Legends] so don’t feel bad. It is something we do work on.”
‘Save Titanfall’ hack plagued ‘Apex Legends’
One individual who felt particularly burned by the ongoing issues with Titanfall servers getting hacked felt the need to bring their grievance to the attention of Apex Legends players. How? By hacking Apex and preventing matchmaking on July 4, of course.
They replaced the standard matchmaking game mode with a button that read, “SaveTitanfall.com — TF1 is being attacked so is Apex.” Some players received a message after matches ended that read, “Important message: Visit and repost savetitanfall.com.”
The website itself delineates the frustrations Titanfall players are experiencing — namely the fact that multiplayer is often impossible to engage with due to bad actors locking players out of servers.
The Titanfall community has been expressing frustration over these problems for a long time, and as evidenced by the question in Jason Garza’s chat, they are beginning to feel left out in the cold. The hack has since been resolved.
“The team has never stopped working on DDoS solutions, and anti-cheat is just a never-ending war of whack-a-mole. On the DDoS front, we WILL solve this. When we do, I promise you it won’t be because hackers ‘made us aware’ by ruining a holiday. They achieved nothing of value,” wrote Respawn Director of Communications Ryan K. Rigney on Twitter.
