Information and misinformation about the coronavirus has people questioning doctors, medical experts, and just about every decision out there, but that’s likely due to the strong involvement by government. Darleen Stromstad President & CEO of the Mohawk Valley Health System elaborated about how the virus is affecting nearly every aspect of day-to-day life.
“COVID 19 has been a real disrupter, not only to our industry, but to our economy, to our ability to socialize, our education, particularly for our kids, and in the process it’s also become not a public health issue, but a political issue.”
The Genesis Group held a zoom forum to discuss the coronavirus, and its medical implications, but it’s nearly impossible to discuss the virus without including the political ramifications. Hundreds of healthcare workers either quit or were fired over vaccination mandates imposed by political representatives, not doctors. Dr. Tommy Ibrahim is the President & CEO Bassett Healthcare Network.
“The State Mandate really gave us a lot of support to really push that forward. We were very happy with President Biden’s announcement shortly thereafter. You know for his Federal approach to vaccinations, and that really gave us a lot of ammunition to move forward.”
That ammunition came in the form of political representatives who’ve been anticipating vaccination resistance from medical personal. Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon, (D) 119th District participated in the zoom discussion.
“My colleagues and I have had these discussions for months in regards to what sort of plan b or c that we’re providing to those healthcare facilities as well as individuals that work for you.”
Whether you agree or disagree with getting a vaccination, Dr. Tommy Ibrahim explained how government involvement doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.
“There are certain jurisdictions across the State that are moving more towards sort of a mobile, tech enabled kind of vaccination passport model, and advocating to move in that direction. I know that New York City for example, the Mayor there has pushed out that being sort of mandatory approach to validating and verifying vaccination status.”
