Regarding the recent letter, “I won’t get vaccine, and the reason’s political,” from Lee Lucas:
Why would anyone base taking care of their health and that of others on political reasons? I sure hope Lucas doesn’t get sick for not being vaccinated, unless, of course he’s covered by the Republican health plan. You know — the one that has yet to come to fruition after 12-plus years.
Nearly all of recent the deaths caused by COVID-19 are among unvaccinated people. For safety’s sake, keep the politics out of it, land listen to science and common sense. After all, an ounce of prevention, is way better than a pound of cure.
Does Lucas really think he can influence public policy because people in government care whether or not he is vaccinated? They say to pick your battles. Is someone’s health worth this one?
Why not just support and vote for the candidates who best represent your views when the time comes, instead of risking your health and your family’s over some action taken by politicians that you think was stupid?

Bad headline for vaccine paranoia
I‘d like to point out that I think the South JerseyTimes made an error when crafting the headline for Lee Lucas’s latest letter, about refusing to get vaccinated. You used the word “political,” when the appropriate word would have been “conspiratorial.”
As an aside, I’d like to share that I DID receive my vaccine as soon as I was eligible. But, it was only because Bill Gates had the Illuminati transmit a mind-control signal that was received by the filings in my teeth.
I guess my reason wasn’t so much “political” as it was “satirical.”

Biden’s gun proposals ineffective
Concerning President Joe Biden’s new proposals to stop the wave of crime from which we are now suffering:
No amount of money or measures that he proposes will stop the crime wave, as long as that are guns possessed illegally can be used by criminals in our society.
In the inner cities, many people do not seek jobs because selling drugs is far more profitable. And, now they see that crime is paying off because police are being discredited and not being supported by other elements of government.
There are no consequences for those who commit crimes and, if arrested, they are allowed to return to the streets. We need mandatory punishment for people who are caught carrying illegal guns or using them in crimes. They should be sent to jail or reform school for a mandatory period, with no legal way to evade or shorten the term.
Otherwise, we are wasting money and lives.
