This card doesn’t require much strategy since it offers a flat 1 mile per dollar on all purchases. However, you’ll earn 2 miles per dollar on the first $2,500 in purchases, so it can be a good use of the card to make purchases up to that amount on items that you aren’t earning bonus rewards on with other cards. Beyond that, the card does have pretty solid consumer benefits, so you can use it to buy supplies or equipment that you’d like to have extra protection or an extended warranty on.

Editor’s Take

If you’re looking to earn rewards to help offset the cost of business travel, there are better card options out there, as the PNC Travel Rewards Visa® Business Credit Card only offers 2 miles per dollar on the first $2,500 in purchases and 1 mile per dollar on all purchases after that. However, if you’re more interested in solid purchase protections and travel insurance benefits, no foreign transaction fee, and tools to manage employee cards, it could be a good fit for you.

Travel redemption offers a slightly higher value than redeeming for a statement credit. For instance, you’ll only get a $40 monetary credit for 5,000 miles, while redeeming 5,000 miles for a hotel booking, cruise or rental car is worth $50. Air travel redemptions offer the most points value: Redeem 25,000 miles for a monetary credit of up to a maximum ticket price of $315; you’ll get $50 for every 5,000 miles thereafter.
