Pinsent Masons has hired Penningtons Manches Cooper’s Madrid head of banking and finance to join the firm’s finance practice in the Spanish capital.
José Millán Martín will lead the U.K.-headquartered law firm’s financial services practice in Madrid in November, the firm told Law.com International.
Millán Martín’s practice spans from acquisition financing to corporate, structured, project and asset finance, margin loans, debt refinancing and restructuring.
As a partner at Penningtons Manches Cooper, Millán Martín headed the banking and finance team in Madrid for just over one year. Prior to joining Penningtons in 2021, he worked at EY,, Linklaters, Allen & Overy and Uría Menéndez, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Millán Martín’s hire at Pinsent Masons comes after the firm announced over the summer the launch of a Luxembourg office, focused initially on financial services. Sixteen lawyers and seven partners joined the Luxembourg office on the heels of the firm also opening an office in Amsterdam and tax practice in Madrid last year.
