Upcoming Adult Programs from Phoenix Building Public Library:
The Phoenix Book Club, a book discussion group for adults of all ages at the Phoenix Building Public Library, will meet virtually on Monday, August 9th at 7:00 pm. The group discusses Pam Jenoff’s New York Times bestseller, Lost Girls in Paris. Inspired by real-life historical events, Genov goes back in time to create another fascinating World War II era story. In 1946, still saddened by her husband’s tragic loss, Grace Healy came across an abandoned suitcase at Manhattan’s Grand Central Terminal. Overwhelmed by curiosity, she opened her suitcase and found a cache of portraits of 12 women’s photographs. Intrigued and inspired by these photographs, she embarked on a quest to reveal not only the identity of the suitcase owner, but also the links that irreparably connect these women to each other. Did. As the novel unfolds, Grace discovers that the woman was a member of the Allied spying based in London. They were sent to occupied Europe to support and thwart the resistance movement, but they never returned. As the details of their activities and final destiny begin to become apparent, grace becomes increasingly attached to their individual and collective stories.
