Phoenix has been named a 2020 Triple Crown Winner by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
To qualify, cities must meet standards for three individual award programs, which recognize governments that produce reports that communicate, among other things, their financial stories in a transparent manner.
Phoenix is one of 317 governments that received the Triple Crown for fiscal year 2020.
“Winning this award is a reminder of our city’s high standards and accuracy, especially during a time of great economic uncertainty in 2020,” Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said.
Kathleen Gitkin, the city’s chief financial officer said the award “recognizes our commitment to excellence in financial reporting and budget presentation.”
The award recognizes governments that have received GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting or Canadian Award for Financial Reporting, Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award and Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for a fiscal year.
