“Chasten and I are beyond thankful for all the kind wishes since first sharing the news that we’re becoming parents,” the U.S. secretary of transportation posted Saturday on Twitter. “We are delighted to welcome Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg to our family.”
Chasten Buttigieg also shared the news on Instagram.

The couple first announced last month that they would become parents.
“For some time, Chasten and I have wanted to grow our family,” Buttigieg tweeted at the time. “We’re overjoyed to share that we’ve become parents! The process isn’t done yet and we’re thankful for the love, support, and respect for our privacy that has been offered to us. We can’t wait to share more soon.”
Chasten Buttigieg quote-tweeted the post with a quick Twitter aphorism, “Some news!” He recently told The Washington Post they had started the adoption process and had gotten close to bringing a child into their home.

‘We’re overjoyed’: Pete Buttigieg, husband Chasten share they’ve become parents
The writer and LGBTQ advocate told USA TODAY last year the pair had been exploring the possibility of starting a family. He noted is a confusing process but one they’re excited about.
“We have quite a few friends in our circle who’ve navigated that, so we’ve just been having a lot of conversations with friends and started trying to figure out what will work for us,” he said.

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost welcomed their first child together, the “Saturday Night Live” star revealed August 18. “Ok Ok we had a baby. His name is Cosmo,” Jost wrote in an Instagram post. “We love him very much.”
Jost added that privacy would be “greatly appreciated” during this time, and jokingly directed all further inquiries to his “SNL” co-star, Michael Che.
CNN anchor and political correspondent Abby Phillip and husband Marcus Richardson welcomed their first baby, a girl named Naomi Angelina Richardson, on Aug. 16, Phillip announced on Instagram. “Her first name means ‘pleasant one’ and she is already living up to it and spoiling her mom and dad as a blissfully calm baby,” Phillip wrote, noting that the middle name is a “tribute to my beloved maternal grandmother who passed away in 2014.”
“We are overjoyed and in love already,” she added.
Eliza Dushku welcomed her second child with husband Peter Palandjian, a baby boy named Bodan. “Welcoming our beautiful son, ‘Bodan’, this week has been a journey in & of itself,” she wrote on Instagram, alongside a series of portraits of herself showing off her baby bump.
She added, “Gratitude & joy! These boys give life new horizons. Bourne & Bodie: #Boston brothers.”
Dushku and Palandjian also share a son named Bourne.
Actor-musician Ludacris and wife Eudoxie Mbouguiengue welcomed a baby girl on July 28 named Chance Oyali Bridges, who was “named after my late grandmother,” Eudoxie revealed on Instagram.
“Our Chance Oyali Bridges came 2 weeks early and we are blessed to have another beautiful angel,” Eudoxie wrote. Ludacris, a father of four girls, hilariously added, “The Movie ‘Girls, Girls, Girls, Girls’ starring Chris Bridges coming soon.” This marks Ludacris and Eudoxie’s second daughter together. Ludacris is also father to two daughters from previous relationships.
“Queer Eye” star Tan France welcomed son Ismail France with his husband, Rob France, via surrogate on July 10. The couple announced that they “finally” took their son home Monday after having been in “the NICU for the past 3 weeks.”
“He came 7 weeks early,” France wrote on Instagram. “Our Surrogate is doing so great, post labor, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the greatest gift in our lives.” France added that they “love him so, so much. Like, fully obsessed.”
Brett Young, 40, and wife Taylor Mills, 33, announced Aug. 1 that they welcomed their second child together on July 21. The couple took to Instagram to introduce their bundle of joy to the world. “We’ve been soaking in all of the loves and cuddles from both of your girls and living in a newborn baby bubble bliss,” wrote Mills on Instagram, sharing a photo of her beautiful baby daughter. “Our hearts could burst. Being a family of 4 is such an incredible feeling. I cannot wait to continue to get to know our sweet girl.”
Mills shared that daughter Rowan Marie Young weighed 8.5 pounds and measures 21 inches long at the time of her birth. The two also share daughter Presley Elizabeth Young.
Young, the country pop singer, also gushed about his newborn daughter in his own Instagram post. “I thought my heart was maxed out,” Young wrote. “I usually don’t like to be wrong…… I was wrong. And I can’t wait to thank you properly for the opportunity to be your daddy. I already love you so much and I can’t wait to watch you and your sister become best friends.”
Shawn Johnson East and husband Andrew East welcomed their second child, a boy, the couple announced July 20 on social media through their toy company, Teddy & Bear. “We’re so excited to announce a new friend is here!” a post on the company’s Instagram story read. “Mom and baby are doing well and we can’t wait to meet our new friend!” The parents also share 1-year-old daughter Drew.
Ilana Glazer is not “False Positive.” The actress, who stars as a copywriter desperate to get pregnant in the Hulu thriller, announced the birth of her first child with husband David Rooklin on Instagram July 19. “Been breastfeedin in compression socks for the past 3 weeks, hbu?” the new mom wrote in the caption.
Former “Bachelor” star Arie Luyendyk Jr. and wife Lauren Burnham welcomed twins on June 11 named Senna James and Lux Jacob, the Luyendyks announced on Instagram. The couple married in 2019 and welcomed 2-year-old daughter Alessi later that year.
“Momma and babies are doing great and everything went smoothly,” Luyendyk wrote. “Spending time cherishing these moments, thank you for all the support.”
Zak Williams, the eldest son of the late Robin Williams, and his partner Olivia June welcomed their second child together, daughter Zola June. The pair announced the news Thursday on Instagram. The two wed in October and share son McLaurin Clement Williams, 2.
“Introducing our newest member of the family, Zola June Williams!” wrote Williams, alongside a photo of his baby daughter. “Since joining us, she’s getting on amazingly with her big brother @mickeycwilliams and has proven to be one laid back little girl. @heyoliviajune is doing awesome and we are over-the-moon to be welcoming Zola into the world!”
In a separate post, the happy mother wrote: “It’s hard to believe it’s already been a little over two weeks since we welcomed our sweet baby girl, Zola June Williams, into the world!! …I couldn’t be happier and more in love with our growing family.”
Country music singer Chris Lane and “Bachelor” star Lauren Bushnell Lane welcomed their first child together, son Dutton Walker Lane, on Tuesday, June 8, in Nashville, the couple confirmed to People. Baby Dutton was born at 11:12 a.m., weighed in at 9 pounds and measured 19.5 inches long, according to the outlet.
The new parents took to Instagram to share the first pictures of their newborn. “Your dad and I can’t get enough of all 9 pounds of you,” Bushnell Lane wrote, along with a photo of her holding her baby. “Now back to baby cuddles and praising Jesus over and over again for this little miracle!!”
The proud dad wrote in a separate post: “Words can’t describe the love i feel inside my heart for this little man! Thanks for all the prayers. I will never understand how @laurenlane birthed a 9 pound baby! DUTTON WALKER LANE welcome to the world.”
Aja Naomi King announced on June 6 she welcomed a child with an empowering message about postpartum bodies. “No, this is not a pregnancy Before picture. This is the After,” the “How to Get Away With Murder” star wrote alongside photos of herself showing off her post-baby bump. “After days of labor. After experiencing what felt like my insides being ripped apart, no lie. After experiencing the unimaginable beauty of childbirth, this is what is left behind. This Gorgeous Body!”
She added: “No make up, no editing, no filters (and you know I love a filter!)…Just Me…a woman in awe of her Body and her Baby!”
Duchess Meghan welcomed her second child at 11:40 a.m. on June 4 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, according to a June 6 press release.
“It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world,” read a statement from the couple’s representative. “Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home. … The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family.”
The new royal addition is named after Queen Elizabeth II, whose nickname among family is “Lilibet.” And her middle name, Diana, “was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales,” the release noted. Prince William and Duchess Kate also chose Elizabeth and Diana as middle names for their daughter, 6-year-old Princess Charlotte.
GTL: Gerber, toys and lullabies? “Jersey Shore” star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and wife Lauren Sorrentino announced the birth of their son, Romeo Reign Sorrentino, on Instagram May 27.
The couple shared the first pictures of their bundle of joy on their respective accounts. “I’m not crying you are,” Sorrentino commented on his wife’s post.
And baby Situation has a lot of aunts and uncles showering him with love. The “Jersey Shore” cast congratulated the new parents. “Welcome to my fam my gorgeous nephew,” Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi wrote. Ronnie Ortiz-Magro added, “So happy he (looks) like Laurenz and not you.”
Alexa and Carlos PenaVega have welcomed baby No. 3! In a May 10 Instagram post the “Spy Kids” actress announced the arrival of baby girl Rio: “Little Rio could not wait to come out and play with her brothers! Momma is feeling good and baby girl is kicking some serious booty in the NICU. Praying we can all be home together very soon!”
“Game of Thrones” star Natalie Dormer revealed on April 27 that she had welcomed a “COVID baby,” a daughter, with David Oakes. “It was a perfect thing to do during a pandemic is get pregnant and have a baby,” she joked on an episode of the “That’s After Life” podcast. She added that it’s been “an absolutely joy.”
Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song welcomed a baby boy named Dakota on April 5, Culkin’s rep Michelle Bega confirmed to USA TODAY on April 12. “We are overjoyed,” the new parents said in a statement.
“Malcolm in the Middle” alum Frankie Muniz announced March 24 that he and his wife, Paige, had welcomed their first child, a baby boy. “I’m a dad, guys,” said Muniz, 35, in an Instagram Story video with tears in his eyes. “I love him so much. I love my wife so much.”
Model Karlie Kloss and husband Joshua Kushner (brother to Ivanka Trump’s husband, Jared) welcomed their first baby, Kushner announced March 14. He shared an Instagram photo of their newborn in the hospital, wearing a blue hat. Other details were not immediately provided.

“Real Housewives of Potomac” star Ashley Darby and her husband Michael welcomed a baby boy on March 2. The couple also shares 1-year-old son Dean Michael.
“Hello, my darlings. Thank you all so much for the kind and warm wishes that you sent to us,” she said in a video on her Instagram story. “This is our sweet baby born today. He is absolutely incredible and amazing, and we’re over-the-moon excited.”
Victoria Monét brought in a bundle of joy this year on Feb. 21.
The songwriter and producer announced the birth of her new baby on Instagram with a photo of the newborn’s hand wrapped around her finger.

Katharine McPhee and David Foster welcomed their first child together, a baby boy, McPhee’s representative Leslie Sloane confirmed to USA TODAY on Feb. 24. No other details were provided.
The two met in 2006, when Foster mentored McPhee on Season 5 of ABC’s “American Idol.” They married at the Church of Saint Yeghiche in the South Kensington district of West London on June 28, 2019. This is Foster’s fifth marriage, and he has five adult children.

“All About That Bass” singer Meghan Trainor and “Spy Kids” alum Daryl Sabara welcomed their first child, a boy named Riley, on Feb. 8, Trainor announced on Valentine’s Day, which was his original due date.

Mickey Guyton announced the birth of her first child, a baby boy named Grayson, with her husband Grant Savoy on Feb. 8.

“American Idol” alums Gabby Barrett and Cade Foehner welcomed their first child, a girl named Baylah May Foehner, on Jan. 18, the couple shared on Instagram. The two met performing on the reality singing competition and married in October 2019.
“I am a blessed man beyond my understanding,” Foehner wrote in his announcement.
Stassi Schroeder and her husband Beau Clark welcomed a baby girl on Jan. 7.
