Samsung Electronics announced the number of connected devices to its SmartThings integrated connection platform has exceeded 10 million units.
The SmartThings platform launched in 2018, and connects various Samsung home appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines, to air purifiers, ovens, and dishwashers.
The number connected appliances has more than doubled each year. Samsung predicts that connected appliances will hit 12 million by the end of the year, and surpass 20 million units by the end of 2023.
In addition to Samsung’s products, more than 300 partner devices can be connected to SmartThings. Samsung predicts this number to grow.
“If the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA) standard is applied in the first half of next year, it will be possible to link home appliances from 13 brands, including Samsung, and the usability is expected to increase,” the company notes.
