I keep reading about B Entertainment out of Colorado seeking permits for a performance venue at the Engine 209 site. I can’t help but wonder what happens when B Entertainment has Bent Nickel and Scum of the Earth, two famously obscure but very, very loud rock bands the same night that The Arts Council has the Atlanta Symphony right next door. There is a third events venue used for weddings, parties and such right there beside the first two.
We’re looking at a traffic, parking and noise nightmare when all three have an event. This doesn’t have to happen as there are other locations available, such as the old Main Street School property or further along the Midtown Greenway, that B Entertainment could utilize.
I’m not one of these people opposed to every development. In fact I’ve been thrilled with what’s happening downtown, but this one looks like a colossal mistake.
