On the radio in the NYC region

There are many free radio stations that you can receive in this New York metropolitan area. There are many genres from classical to hip-hop,from country to jazz and many others. Starting with the stations on the left side of the dial which are stations that are run by colleges and nonprofit organizations in this region.

WBGO-FM, 88.3 – The first station transmitting is the jazz station WBGO which broadcasts from Newark,NJ. The dial setting is 88.3 FM. This station is member supported and does broadcast some shows that are related to jazz like “the blues” and “rhythm and blues”.

WFDU-FM, 89.1 -Broadcasts out of the Fairleigh Dickinson University from their campus in Teaneck,NJ. It turns it airwaves over to WNYU weekdays from 4PM to Midnight. On the the weekends, WFDU broadcasts a variety of programs as well in the late night hours during the week. The weekday day playlist features hit music from the 60’s and 70’s.
