How would you describe your style?
Minimalist. Low effort but hopefully high impact. I like clothes to be comfortable and to show a bit of personality, but not too much.
What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe?
A black cropped jacket with embroidery on the back that I’ve had since I was 17 years old. It’s from a weird Korean brand, Moon Goon.
And the most recent addition?
A black cropped Comme des GarÇons jacket. It’s a more mature version of my teenage jacket. It has frayed edges and less detailing, like a blazer but cool.
What would you wear …
… on a first date? Top-to-bottom black denim with black Spingle Move sneakers – they’re a Japanese brand, made from kangaroo leather.
… on a plane? Baggy pants with a T-shirt, linen shirt and slip-on shoes.
… on the red carpet? The closest thing to a red carpet I have been would be my brother’s wedding. In Indonesia, weddings happen in ballrooms with a thousand people attending. I wore this beautiful Valentino-inspired dress that I had made. It was gradient blue to peach in ruffled tulle. But I didn’t realise it was see-through, so I made quite an entrance.

What’s your favourite fashion era?
The late ’70s to early ’80s when punk and deconstruction happened. I love frays, cuts and construction; I love the mix of materials. Junya Watanabe, punk denim – that kind of vibe.
Who are your favourite designers?
I’ve always worn Comme des GarÇons because it fits my size and it works with other things in my wardrobe. I also wear a lot of Junya Watanabe – that’s my wild stuff – a T-shirt with the belt stitched into it and ruffles, for example. It’s fashion engineering and it fits perfectly. I wish I could wear Rick Owens, Marni and Margiela, but their sizing is too big and it doesn’t fit me.
Who is your favourite fashion icon?
Scandinavian designer Henrik Vibskov. I like what he stands for in fashion but that he also plays music and does art. It’s that full expression and energy that speaks to me.
