Nike & Jacquemus Are Giving The Air Max 1 Sneakers A Revamp

The fashion world held its breath six months ago when whispers of a Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1 sneakers collaboration first surfaced. Now, after months of anticipation, the wait is finally over. The hotly anticipated collection has been officially confirmed, and it’s everything we hoped for and more.

This isn’t your average Air Max 1. While the silhouette retains its iconic 80s charm from afar, Jacquemus’ signature touch injects a hefty dose of freshness upon closer inspection. Presented in a bold color palette featuring “Mystic Red,” “Summit White,” and an intriguing “Metallic Silver,” the collection offers a variety of options to suit any taste.

Built on a breathable mesh base, these special sneakers boast a series of suede overlays that elegantly wrap around the mudguard. But that’s where the traditional elements end. Jacquemus throws the AM1 rulebook out the window, opting for a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Gone are the bulky leather sidewalls, replaced by a sleeker, more streamlined design.

The iconic Swooshes get a makeover too, shrinking down to a miniature chrome version reminiscent of those seen on Jacquemus’ Air Humara LX and J Force 1 Low collaborations. Subtle Jacquemus branding graces the tongue and heel, while the biggest surprise lies underfoot. The midsole undergoes a complete transformation, featuring a brand new squared-out Air bubble—a first in the Air Max 1’s 37-year history.

For a touch of ultimate luxury, the sneakers boast plush quilted inner linings, further elevating the comfort factor. Packaged in exclusive shoeboxes and accompanied by a unique leather hangtag, these sneakers are a collector’s dream.

The Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1 collection is set to drop on July 23 on the SNKRS app in the “Mystic Red” and “Summit White” colorways. It can also be purchased at Jacquemus stores, Nike locations, and select retailers worldwide. Expect each pair to come with a price tag of around $180. So mark your calendars, fashion fiends and sneakerheads—this collab is not to be missed!
