Nikita Kucherov OVER 3.5 shots
Nikita Kucherov is averaging 3.32 shots per game this season, but now he and the Lightning get to face a reckless Florida panthers team at home tonight, so I like him to go over this number.
Over their last 10 games, the Panthers have allowed 33.31 shots on goal per 60 minutes of play, which ranks 25th in the NHL over that span. They have opened up their style of play as they try to make a push for the postseason, which has left them susceptible in their own end.
At plus-money, I’ll bank on Kuch peppering the Panthers net with shots tonight.
Juuse Saros OVER 29.5 saves
Much like the Panthers, the Pittsburgh Penguins have completely opened up their offense over the past couple of weeks. They rank second in the NHL in shots on goal per game over their last 10, averaging 37.6 per contest. That’s well over Juuse Saros’ save total for tonight.
The Predators play a defensive style of hockey which will make this bet a sweat, but they’ve still allowed 29.72 shots on goal over their last 10 games, and now they face one of the most active offenses in the NHL.
Saros is going to have his hands full tonight.
David Pastrnak UNDER 4.5 shots
No team has allowed fewer shots on goal over their last 10 games than the Calgary Flames, keeping teams to recording over 22.78 per 60 minutes of play.
We need to look past the Flames record, which has been largely caused by poor goaltending, and applaud their strong defensive play.
There’s no doubt that Pastrnak is a shooting machine, averaging 4.79 shots on goal per game this season, but it’s going to be a tall order for him to reach five in Calgary tonight.
