Incumbent New Hanover County School Board Member Nelson Beaulieu has field a campaign finance complaint with the North Carolina State Board of Elections alleging Judy Justice, another candidate and fellow board member, of several campaign finance violations.
nelson Bolger has filed a complaint with the state board of Elections alleging three of his Democratic opponents committed campaign finance violations. I just noticed something discrepancies with regards to some of the candidates campaign filings. Um, and I think, you know, we always talk about transparency. Um, and it’s important whether we’re democrats or republicans that we hold ourselves accountable in the complaint, Bolger says candidate and fellow board member judy Justice did not properly report the funds used to pay for these palm cards that include photos of other candidates story in Cromarty and veronica McLaurin Brown. That was the nature of my complaint is that I think it’s, it’s odd to have a campaign expense report where you say I’ve donated, where you make public statements saying I’ve donated other campaigns and I’ve received money from other campaigns. And then you don’t clarify that. That’s not reflecting your report. Those public statements are from a facebook comment section where justices campaign page says a group of teachers paid for the cards to be made. Bowyer says that wasn’t filed properly. You know, I look at it. One of three things are possible. Either there was an incorrect filing. Uh, there are a lot of public statements which are just false or both. There are incorrect filings and public statements that are false and I think that’s the problem. And again, there’s nothing criminal in lying, anybody can lie, but I think people should be held accountable in our offices. He has called for the state board of elections to begin an investigation
