Music of Aretha Franklin coming to Modesto’s Gallo Center

A tribute to the music of Aretha Franklin will hit the Gallo Center stage in Modesto.

If you’re a fan of Aretha Franklin’s music, you can get your fix of her hits at a tribute coming to the Gallo Center. Ana Barbara also brings her music to the downtown Modesto venue. They are among the entertainment options in the region from Dec. 31-Jan. 7.

Franklin tribute

R.E.S.P.E.C.T., a tribute celebrating the music of the legendary Aretha Franklin, comes to the Gallo Center with a live band and vocalists. The concert features Franklin’s hits, including “Natural Woman,” “Think,” “I Knew You Were Waiting for Me,” “Chain of Fools,” “Respect” and more.

Ana Barbara

Mexican singer-songwriter Ana Barbara is set to perform at the Gallo Center with guest Luis Coronel. The two are judges of the Estrella TV talent show “Tengo Talento Mucho Talento.” Barbara performs a variety of musical genres, from mariachi to pop to banda sinaloense. Coronel also is a successful artist in Latin music.

New exhibit

Mistlin Gallery presents its member show “Abstracts, Impressions and Fantasy.” According to the gallery website, abstract artists reach to connect with the viewer’s emotions. Impressionists look to create a vision using light and color. In fantasy, artists express unworldly images as if they are real.

“The Land Before Time”

The State Theatre in Modesto continues its Donuts, Coffee and Cartoons series with a screening of the animated film “The Land Before Time.” Orphaned brontosaurus Littlefoot goes in search of the Great Valley, where dinosaurs can thrive and live in peace.
